Memorial Day 2016 Theme Based Events 

National Memorial Day Parade

Take Part in National Memorial Day Parade which will be on Monday, May 30. You have to reach there by 1 O'clock as the Parade will start at sharp 2 pm or else you will miss the best spots to view the parade. It will all start from the corner of Constitution Avenue and will go till the end of 7th Street. Its sponsor is the World War II Veterans Committee.

Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally

There are many Bike lovers out there and honoring the veterans with the thing you are best in is just the perfect thing you can do. This is what happen in Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally Since 1998. It is a must go for all the Bike Lovers. It honors POW’s and MIA’s who served our country during the Vietnam War. It will begin the rally from North Pentagon parking lot and will end at West Potomac Park on Sunday, May 29 from 12 in the noon.

 There will also be a Candlelight Vigil at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial two days before the rally from 9 pm on May 27. On May 28th, 9 am in the morning there will be Thunder Alley Opens to sell Official Rolling Thunder Patches, Pins, and T-shirts. On May 29th, as we know there will be Bikers Rally from 12 noon and on the same day there will be National Memorial Day Concert at the U.S. Capitol from 8-9:30 p.m. [For More Details]

On Memorial Day itself, there will be annual Memorial Day Observance at Vietnam Veterans Memorial from 2 pm and at 3 pm there will be National Moment of Remembrance.

Arlington National Cemetery

At Arlington National Cemetery army officers and women put on American flags at more than 250,000 graves. On Memorial Day 2016, May 30 from 11 am onwards there will be A Wreath-Laying Ceremony and at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, there will be Concert in honor of Memorial Day. From 4 pm onwards women in Military Service For America Memorial will hold the ceremony of scattering of rose petals in tribute departed associates. The Memorial Day Roses Foundation gives free roses to guests who've come to offer their regards.

Go To The National Mall

Tour the Memorials which are on the National Mall and visit the National World War II Memorial. Stop there to show respect to the men and women of Vietnam and also do etch a name from the wall by taking a piece of paper from any of the volunteers. Monday, May 30, 2016, 9 a.m. The National Park Service and the associates of the National World War II Memorial will sponsor a wreath-laying ceremony in honor of veterans on May 30 from 9 am.

National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art is making its 75th Anniversary and debuting the celebration of Paul Mellon Exhibition. Art Lovers must stop by the National Gallery of Arts. Right now it also includes works of Van Gogh, Bellows, Picasso, Klee, and Manet.

President Lincoln's Cottage

You should take a free tour with a guide of USSAH National Cemetery, I must say, you won't regret this tour. It will all start from 10:45 am till 12:30 pm after the Wreath-Laying Ceremony which will be at 10 am. Tour of the cottage will be available from 10 am to 3 pm at 15$ and 5$ for adults and Children Respectively.

Hometown Holidays

The City of Rockville's Main Memorial Day 2016 Event will be a complete 3 Day street festival starting from 28 to 30 May 2016, with fantastic live music and many things for Children's entertainment and a Parade to honor the veterans and many more things.

Memorial Day 2016 Weekend Celebration in Sharpsburg, Maryland

One of the oldest traditions of Memorial Day in the US will begin on May 28, Saturday with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony starting at 11 am at the Sharpsburg Town Hall. Memorial Day Parade will then follow it at 1:30 am. At around 3 pm after the parade, there will be commemoration ceremony which will also include music by the Boonsboro High School Band at Antietam National Cemetery.

Chestertown Festival

The so famous River-Front town which is on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay every year starts with a weekend of fun which is for the whole family. It will start from 27th of May this year to 29th May which will include lots of events like Tea Party, Cocktail Party, Raft Race, Parade, Street Performances, etc. Do Go and Catch fun there.

Viva Virginia

It will Celebrates with a community festival from May 28th to 30th May which will include food music and entertainment, carnival rides, crafts and Memorial Day honoring.

Delaplane Strawberry Festival

This is an annual festival which includes many things like entertainment, children's games, rides, a fun 5K race, antique cars, food, crafts and many other things. Catch them from 28th May to 29th May and timings for this festival will be from 10 am to 5 pm.

Concert at Wolf Trap National Park

This is truly a great kick start for the summer, as the park is for performing amazing arts and a free performance by the US Marina Band, which will then be followed by fireworks on Sunday, 29th May from 8 pm. The gates will be open from 6:30 pm and yes a small suggestion do come fast as the gates are closed as soon as they think the capacity is full.

Alexandria Memorial Day Jazz Festival

Jazz Festival will be featuring big bands, Jazz music and swing at Waterfront Park On May 30. The timing for this will be from 1 pm to 7 pm. You can go for a picnic here with full food and beverages, and you will find a sale for these there as well.

Falls Church Memorial Day Parade

The City of Falls Church will celebrate Memorial Day 2016 with a festival featuring arts and crafts booths, pony rides, live music, food and annual parade on May 30. The timing for this will be from 9 am to 5 pm.
